Care tips for wool apparel
Did you know...Wool has self-cleaning properties, so there is no need to wash your woollen garments often.
General Tips
- Wash sparingly: Most of the time, it will be enough to opt for air-cleaning by gently shaking your woollen clothes, or laying them flat on a chair overnight.
- Use TGC041 delicate detergent: This ensures gentle cleaning while preserving fabric integrity.
Washing Wool
- Hand wash preferred: Use tepid water (30°C), add detergent first, and gently stir the garment. Avoid squeezing, twisting, or rubbing. Rinse twice in tepid water.
-
Machine washing: Use a gentle wool or hand wash cycle with the right amount of detergent. Avoid spinning to prevent felting.
Drying Wool
- Avoid tumble drying: Lay the garment flat on a towel, reshape it, and roll it to absorb excess moisture. Use a fresh towel for final drying.
Ironing Wool
- Avoid ironing wool, wrinkles usually disappear with wear.
- Steam to remove stubborn creases. Use a steamer or hang the garment in a steamy bathroom.
- If ironing is necessary, use the correct setting and press lightly on the reverse side without moving the iron back and forth. Place a cotton cloth between the iron and wool to prevent shiny spots.
Storing Wool
- Avoid hanging woollen garments, wet or dry, to prevent stretching.
- Keep wool away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
- Store woollens folded in a drawer or wardrobe.
- Use natural pest repellents like lavender, patchouli, or cedar to protect against moths and beetles.
- Avoid sealed plastic containers, residual moisture can damage the wool.
